"The work of artist Jessica Vollrath has always instilled a quiet reflection for me. Her work symbolizes an unspoken sentiment of joy, pain, uncertainty, awakening and newness. This perhaps is the entity that continually drives me to this artist. Vollrath’s ability to speak many languages of life within a single composition affords a brilliance in our art world that unites in ways I could never articulate. I am beyond humbled to have the opportunity to work with Vollrath this Spring at the Dallas Art Fair." - Dr. Gillespie
"My art currently is a personal journey of healing and an expressive desire to truly know myself. The work I produce is a physical representation of the sacred space of internal exploration. I believe creativity is a position of transformation. Through making art, I am questioning and reevaluating my own limiting belief systems and inviting my viewer into a conversation about who we are and what we are capable of when we step outside of our established stories." - Vollrath
Elyse Hradecky is a Dallas born artist living and working in Manhattan, New York. Her training, based on traditional techniques, has led her to create work with a classical foundation, based on contemporary subjects. Working in both 2D and 3D, her figurative work focuses on the quiet connections created between the art and viewer. Whether through direct gaze or voyeuristic observation, she creates spaces encouraging contemplation about her subjects. Her still life paintings show the often-overlooked beauty of everyday and discarded items. While earning a BFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design, she was accepted to the European Honors program in Rome, Italy. Afterward, she earned an MFA with honors in sculpture, with a concentration in anatomy, from the New York Academy of Art. She has been awarded a Terra Foundation residency in Giverny, France and the Distinguished Artist Scholarship and Full Fellowship from the Art Students League Residency at Vyt. Her work has been shown at Dacia Gallery in New York City, The Lyme Art Association Gallery in Old Lyme, The New York Academy of Art in New York City, The Edward Hopper House Museum in Nyack, Neoteric Fine Art in Amagansett, Union Arts Center in Sparkhill, Frontrunner Gallery in New York City, and Wayfarers Gallery in Brooklyn. Elyse had her first solo exhibition at Pencil on Paper Gallery in October of 2023.
Abi Salami is a self-taught artist who creates large-scale surrealist works that explore her experiences as a Nigerian immigrant and Black woman in the United States. Through the use of a personal visual lexicon made up of symbols, she explores topics such as sexuality, mental health and race. She earned a Masters in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and worked in Corporate America for almost a decade before committing to painting full-time. Since then, she has gone on to exhibiting across the United States and Europe including at The Women’s Museum and the African American Museum of Art in Dallas, Cris Worley Fine Arts in Dallas, C24 Gallery and Field Projects in New York City, and Galerie Droste in Germany. She was the winner of the 2021 Hopper Prize. She was selected as a candidate of the Saatchi Art 2020 Rising Stars under 35 Class and a 2021 New Voices Top 100 Artists. She and her work have been featured on the Washington Post, New York Times, Artland, Artsy, D Magazine, Glasstire and Patron Magazine. Abi recently completed a residency with Valerie Gillespie Contemporary and currently is exhibiting her culminating body of work at Pencil on Paper Gallery now through March 2nd.
